Bexar CARES
Coordinated Access to Resources Equals Success
Bexar CARES is a grant-funded program designed to develop, grow and enhance a coordinated system of care throughout the City of San Antonio in support of healthy behavioral and emotional development for children ages 3 to 8.
The Bexar CARES system also promotes wraparound services that are focused on children and families struggling with behavioral and emotional challenges as well as mental illness. The Wraparound process improves the lives of children with complex needs and their families by developing individualized plans of care.
Bexar CARES proudly supports and encourages stigma-reduction efforts to help change attitudes and beliefs about early childhood mental health needs, training and evaluation; and works hard to remove the barriers and discrimination created by stigma. Judgment almost always stems from another’s lack of understanding rather than information based on facts. You can help educate others and make a big difference by understanding your loved one’s condition and seeking treatment and support for it.
